The Southeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging (SEIAOA) is a not-for-profit organization which contracts services for seniors in its assigned geographic area within Illinois.

SEIAOA provides information and assistance to seniors to gain access to a variety of services such as senior nutrition programs, legal assistance, SHIP and other insurance programs, case management and community care programs, elder abuse & neglect program, ombudsman program, Title V Senior Employment program, respite and gap-filling services, as well as support groups for grandparents raising grandchildren through the caregivers support program.

Title V Senior Employment Program

The Senior Employment Program is a federally funded program designed to assist the mature worker (55+) in re-entering the workplace.  The program places eligible individuals in part-time positions at minimum wage in community service or non-profit agencies where they can receive on-the-job training and develop new skills toward alternate career opportunities.

Supplemental Services/Gap Filling Services

SEIAOA also provides, on a limited basis, funds for supplemental services, also known as gap-filling services.  These funds may be used, at the discretion of the Area Agency, for the purchase of essential, temporary emergency services through designated Senior Center Resource Centers. Some gap-filling expenditures may include:  prescription medication, air conditioners, fans, minor home repairs, home equipment and emergency response installation.

Respite Services (In-home & Nursing Home Respite Services)

Respite services are contracted to provide temporary relief to family members who care for older persons.  There are no income or asset limitations; however, respite services are targeted to older persons in greatest economic need, with special attention given to minority elders in greatest economic need.  Services may include in-home respite, home health services, adult day services, or a temporary stay in a licensed long term care facility.

Case Management & the Community Care Program

The Case Management Program is designed to assist adults age 60 and older with resources and services available to allow them to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible.
